Saying goodbye to Pete Roa Dart

On Saturday, hundreds of people lined the streets of Lismore to say goodbye to a much-loved and admired friend, Peter Jackson, a.k.a Pete Roa Dart, a.k.a Pothole Pete, who died tragically at his property earlier this month.

The cavalcade then wove its way up to the ridge where the small Koonorigan community, devastated by the loss of their friend and neighbour, came out to say goodbye to Pete and pay their respects to his family.

If you have driven in the Northern Rivers you have probably had your tyres and axles saved by Pete who spent immeasurable hours at great risk to himself, painting colourful, insightful and always thoughtful patterns around the cavities in our roads, warning drivers of danger ahead.

Pete was also a major artivist in the gas fight in the Northern Rivers spreading his love via colourful hearts, across the landscape.

He and his Heart will be sorrowfully missed.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

This man was a TRUE citizen-activist, and for his road painting alone should have been given a MAJOR civic award . . . years ago.

  2. Odette says:

    Pete made everything more beautiful.
Blessings on his way home, may it be full of colour and love.
